Quantity Surveyor – Help Drive Value for Money Across Peabody’s Repairs Service

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with strong knowledge of repairs and maintenance? As a Quantity Surveyor at Peabody, you'll play a key role in managing the commercial performance of our responsive repairs, voids and major repairs programmes, helping ensure we deliver high-quality services while maximising value for money.

Working closely with Surveyors, Operational Teams and Contractors, you'll provide commercial oversight, cost challenge and expert guidance on the application of the NHF Schedule of Rates, supporting the delivery of efficient, sustainable and customer-focused property services.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing the commercial delivery of major repairs and void works from instruction to final account
  • Monitoring budgets, forecasts and costs to ensure effective financial control
  • Reviewing and approving valuations, variations and contractor accounts
  • Applying and managing NHF Schedule of Rates (V8 and bespoke codes) across repairs activities
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve value for money and strengthen commercial controls
  • Working with Surveyors to review, challenge and improve scopes of work
  • Analysing contractor performance, spend and job histories to identify risks and trends
  • Producing commercial reports, forecasts and cost/value reconciliations
  • Supporting compliance with contractual, financial and audit requirements
  • Providing guidance and support to colleagues, including apprentice Quantity Surveyors where applicable

What You'll Bring

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within social housing, repairs, maintenance or a similar environment
  • Strong working knowledge of the NHF Schedule of Rates, including V8
  • Experience managing responsive repairs, planned maintenance or void contracts
  • A strong commercial mindset with excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Experience reviewing variations, valuations and contractor performance
  • Confidence challenging costs and driving value-for-money decisions

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline, or equivalent HNC/HND qualification and experience
  • Professional membership desirable (RICS, CIOB or equivalent)

This role is ideal for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working closely with operational teams, improving cost control and driving better outcomes for customers and the business.

2-3 office days will be required for this role

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required, as regular travel between sites and operational locations is essential.

Interviews will be held at our Westminster Bridge Road office on Monday 14th September.
