Rate: £45.05 per hour umbrella
Summary
This is a 3-month contract position with a local authority, offering a rate of £45.05 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. The role involves providing expert quantity surveying services for various development and construction projects. The successful candidate will ensure the effective management of commercial, contractual, financial, procurement, risk, and cost-related matters. The role is crucial in supporting project teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with Brierley Homes' governance, policies, and procedures, ensuring value for money and commercial success.
Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of assigned projects from pre-construction through to final account settlement.
- Prepare and maintain accurate cost forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor project expenditure and ensure effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce cost and value reconciliation reports and profitability forecasts.
- Assess project financial performance and provide regular commercial reporting to management.
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with company governance, financial regulations, and legal requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and achieve value for money.
- Prepare and manage interim and final accounts.

Requirements
- Significant experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, housing, regeneration, or development projects.
- Experience managing commercial and contractual aspects of projects from inception through to completion.
- Experience administering NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards chartered status is desirable.

Additional Information
- Working hours are 37 hours per week.
- The role is based in the office in Northallerton and on-site across North Yorkshire.
- The contract may be extended based on business needs.
- Payments are made on a bi-weekly schedule.
