Role Description

The Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accurate measurement, valuation, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Preparing and reviewing bills of quantities (BOQ)
  • Monitoring budgets
  • Preparing interim valuations
  • Supporting cost planning and forecasting activities

The role involves collaborating with project managers, site teams, and clients to provide clear financial information and help optimize project value. This is an on-site role based in Leeds.

Qualifications

  • Skills in Cost Control and Cost Management to monitor budgets, manage expenditures, and maintain financial discipline on projects.
  • Skills in Cost Planning and BOQ to support pre-contract activities, prepare detailed estimates, and ensure accurate quantification of works.
  • Skills in Cost Reporting to produce clear, timely financial reports, forecasts, and project performance summaries for stakeholders.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in commercial documentation.
  • Knowledge of standard forms of construction contract and commercial procedures; experience in the UK construction market is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in relevant quantity surveying or cost management software and MS Office tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field; membership or progression toward RICS or a similar professional body is an advantage.
