Quantity Surveyor – Planned Maintenance

£55,000 - £60,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance
Stansted / Bishop's Stortford
Permanent | Office-based

Are you a Quantity Surveyor with experience across Social Housing, Property Services or Planned Maintenance?

I'm working with a long-established contractor that has continued to grow significantly and has recently secured a number of new contracts. They're now looking to add an experienced Quantity Surveyor to their commercial team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to join a growing business, take real ownership of their workload and work closely with an experienced Senior QS.

What will you be working on?

You'll be involved in a range of planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes across Social Housing, including:

  • Roofing
  • Windows & Doors
  • Kitchens & Bathrooms
  • Retrofit
  • Voids
  • General Planned Maintenance

You'll have genuine commercial responsibility for your contracts, working closely with the operational team from valuation through to final account.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What are they looking for?

The most important thing is genuine Planned Maintenance experience. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous QS experience within Social Housing, Property Services or Planned Maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates
  • Experience managing commercial processes from valuation through to final account
  • Good understanding of cost and value management
  • Strong technical understanding of planned maintenance works
  • Experience with areas such as roofing, scaffolding, windows & doors, K&B or refurbishment
  • The ability to understand and measure works rather than simply manage the commercial process from behind a spreadsheet
  • A personable, collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team

Why consider it?

The business has grown significantly over recent years and is continuing to win new work.

  • You'll be joining at an important stage of that growth, with the opportunity to take ownership, develop your commercial experience and progress as the business continues to expand.
  • There is a clear opportunity for the right person to progress through the commercial team over time.
  • You'll also work closely with the Senior QS and wider operational team, giving you good exposure to both the commercial and delivery sides of the business.
