Quantity Surveyor

Location: Plymouth
Sector: Property & Construction Consultancy
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Carriera is working with an established construction consultancy looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to its Plymouth team.

This is a good opportunity for someone who has already built a solid grounding in Quantity Surveying and is progressing through their APC. You'll work across a varied portfolio of private and public-sector projects, with particular exposure to feasibility work, cost planning and wider pre-contract services alongside ongoing project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare feasibility estimates and early-stage cost advice
  • Produce cost plans as projects progress through design
  • Undertake benchmarking and option appraisals
  • Support procurement and tender processes
  • Prepare tender documentation and analyse returns
  • Assist with valuations, variations and cost reporting
  • Support contract administration and final account work
  • Attend client, design team and site meetings
  • Work across a varied portfolio of residential, hospitality, commercial and public-sector projects
  • Take increasing ownership of projects as experience develops

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • Experience working within Quantity Surveying or Cost Management
  • Currently progressing through the APC towards MRICS
  • Good grounding in feasibility and cost planning
  • Exposure to both pre and post-contract work
  • Confident communicator with strong numerical and written skills
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and project teams
  • Ambitious and keen to take on increasing responsibility

You'll be commercially minded, proactive and keen to develop into a well-rounded Quantity Surveyor. The team is looking for someone who wants broad project exposure, direct client contact and a clear route towards chartership.
