Quantity Surveyor/Project Manager (Civils)

£70,000 - £80,000 + Company Benefits + Progression + Training + Office Based

Pontypool, Monmouthshire

Are you a Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager from a civil engineering background looking to join a rapidly growing specialist structural steel manufacturer in a commercially focused role offering specialist training, a varied project workload and long-term career progression?

Since the 2010s, this company has been delivering bespoke structural steel solutions across a range of industrial and commercial projects, alongside comprehensive project management services. Through continued success, they have grown to over 50 employees, achieved a multi-million-pound turnover, and continue to expand their project portfolio.

In this office-based role, you will work closely with the estimating team during the pre-construction phase, assisting with Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender submissions and cost planning before taking ownership of the commercial and project management aspects of projects through to completion. You will manage project budgets, monitor expenditure, prepare cost reports and valuations, administer contracts, liaise with clients, suppliers and internal project teams, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
