Company Description
The Company is a producer of high-quality aggregates, operating a well-established hard rock quarry in the UK. With a strong reputation for operational excellence, safety, and sustainability, it supplies essential materials to major infrastructure and construction projects.
Entering an exciting phase of development and investment, the company is now seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Quarry Manager to play a key role in shaping the future of the operation.
The Role
As Quarry Manager, you will have full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the quarry site. You will provide strong leadership to site teams, drive operational performance, and ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
This is a highly visible leadership role with the opportunity to influence long-term strategy and major capital projects.

The successful candidate will lead and contribute to several significant initiatives, including:
- Increasing production capacity to support rising demand and long-term growth plans
- Reconnection of a rail link serving the site, enabling sustainable bulk material transport
- Development of rail loading facilities, supporting a shift towards rail-based distribution and reduced road haulage
- Supporting infrastructure upgrades, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site

Key Responsibilities
- Overall management of quarry operations, including extraction, processing, and distribution
- Ensure full compliance with quarry legislation, health & safety regulations, and environmental permits
- Act as the site’s Appointed Quarry Manager under relevant UK quarry regulations
- Lead, motivate, and develop the site team and contractors
- Deliver production targets in line with budgets and quality standards
- Oversee contractor performance and major project activities
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and sustainability
- Liaise with regulators, inspectors, suppliers, and key stakeholders
- Contribute to long-term quarry planning, capital investment, and asset management

About You
You will be an accomplished quarry professional with strong leadership skills and a proactive, improvement-driven mindset.
Essential:
- Certificate of Competence – Level 6 Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in Mineral Products Operations (Or Equivalent) or working towards
- Proven experience managing hard rock quarry operations
- Strong knowledge of UK quarry legislation and H&S management systems
- Effective leadership, communication, and people management skills
- Commercial awareness and operational problem-solving ability
Desirable:
- Experience delivering production uplift or major site development projects
- Experience with rail logistics or bulk materials handling
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
- Environmental permitting and sustainability experience
