Hills Quarry Products - Quarry Manager

Location: Mortimer

Salary: Up to £55,000.00 per annum

Car allowance: Up to £9,000.00 per annum

Relocation Assistance: Subject to HMRC guidance

Hours: 37.5 hours

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

What is the role all about?

As our Quarry Manager (8.1c), you’ll play a key role in making sure the right quantity and quality of product is produced safely and efficiently. You’ll work to meet budgets and performance targets while ensuring all operations comply with our Safety Policy, the Quarries Regulations 1999, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.

What you will be doing:

As our Quarry Manager, you will:

  • Lead the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the quarry, ensuring production and customer targets are achieved.
  • Manage site performance, budgets and costs to deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee extraction, processing, stock management and despatch activities to maximise productivity and quality.
  • Champion a strong health, safety and environmental culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead, coach and develop the site team, creating a high-performing and engaged workforce.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience in Quarry Management, Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven leadership experience within quarrying, mining, aggregates, or other extractive industries, with a strong track record of delivering operational excellence.
  • Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation, standards and best practice relevant to quarrying.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify effective solutions in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets, controlling costs and driving operational performance.

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 4/5 in Health, Safety & Environmental Management.
