Job title: College of Natural Sciences Ambassador

Reports to: The College of Natural Sciences Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator

Job Summary: The CNS Student Ambassador is a dedicated, passionate undergraduate leader who represents the College of Natural Sciences. Ambassadors support the college’s recruitment efforts by engaging with prospective students and families, sharing their experiences, leading tours and information sessions, and promoting CNS programs and community through College and Office of Admissions events. Ambassadors foster a welcoming, inclusive, and knowledgeable environment to positively influence prospective students’ decisions and help shape their first impression of the college.

Duties

Recruitment Engagement

  • Participate in recruitment events (like Choose CSU, Explore CSU, admitted-student days, department-hosted events).
  • Conduct or assist with information sessions or campus tours, highlighting facilities such as labs, lecture halls, and research spaces.
  • Respond to prospective student emails or inquiries about majors, CNS student life, experiential learning opportunities (such as research, internships, involvement, education abroad), and general college experience (as appropriate).
  • Collaborate with CNS Communications team on student-led content (blogs, social media takeovers, student-spotlight interviews).
  • Participate in letter writing yield campaign

Team Collaboration & Development

  • Attend regular ambassador team meetings for training, planning, and debriefs.
  • Assist with planning and executing ambassador-led programming and events.
  • Uphold and embody the CSU Principles of Community.

Feedback & Assessment

  • Provide feedback to CNS staff on recruitment strategies from a student perspective.
  • Help collect and report data from recruitment events.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at CSU (minimum 12 credit hours).
  • Major in the College of Natural Sciences, specifically looking for students in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, and Psychology.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional, responsible, and positive attitude, with a commitment to representing CNS and CSU.
  • Ability to commit to regular meetings and recruitment events (including some evenings/weekends).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in leadership, public speaking, peer mentoring, or event coordination.
  • Interest or experience in outreach, science communication, or student engagement.
  • Basic understanding of social media for ambassador-led content.

Hours per week: Approximately 5-10 hours per week.

Remote Option: Hybrid schedule may be offered for this position after training.
