Position Summary

The Communications Intern supports communications, marketing, and outreach efforts across the Center for Collaborative Conservation (CCC) programs. Under the supervision of the CCC Communications Specialist, the intern assists with content creation, social media, graphic design, website updates, event promotion and implementation, and storytelling.

The position requires work-study status and 10 hours of commitment each week.

The pay rate will be $17/hour, and we are seeking candidates with work-study awards.

The Center for Collaborative Conservation, in the Warner College of Natural Resources, supports people and communities to solve conservation challenges through transformative research and education. We are looking for a friendly, motivated, creative and energetic student to create and manage content and engagement for our web site, newsletter, social media, and other communications. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in communications and will share our passion for conservation.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Current CSU undergraduate or graduate student
  • Experience with Canva or similar design platform
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Experience working with minimal supervision

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a major or minor for Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, Environmental Studies, or related field
  • Experience with web page design and management
  • Photography or video skills
  • Experience with MailChimp
  • Interest in conservation and community engagement
  • Desire to explore and learn web technology and social media platforms, including methods for measuring engagement

Essential Duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with our team and partners to identify relevant and powerful media content
  • Independently seeking, creating and posting content on our WordPress website and social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Preparing a monthly newsletter in MailChimp
  • Using metrics to track and understand engagement
  • Creating other communications materials as may be needed
