Position Summary

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering will be hiring graders for courses:

  • CIVE 466
  • CIVE 480A6
  • CIVE 525

These courses will be taught in the 2026 Fall Semester.

Student Graders assist faculty by evaluating student assignments, quizzes, and exams according to established rubrics and guidelines. They provide constructive feedback, ensure consistency and fairness in grading, and uphold academic integrity. Graders are responsible for maintaining confidentiality, meeting grading deadlines, and communicating effectively with instructors and students as needed. This role requires attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently.

Pay rate depends on the course and responsibilities, ranging from $18.00 to $25.00 an hour.

Graders may be asked to hold office hours and assist students with class problems. Please indicate which courses you would like to be considered for as a grader in your application.

Colorado State University may conduct background checks on all final candidates.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the course or closely related courses within the last 5 years with a strong grade
  • Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in Engineering
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality when grading

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Proficiency with course-related software and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
  • Previous Experience As a Grader Or Tutor Preferred

Essential Duties

  • Grade assignments, quizzes, exams, and other course materials according to established rubrics and guidelines.
  • Meet grading deadlines and respond promptly to instructors' requests.
  • Attend grading meetings or training sessions as required.
  • Assist with proctoring exams or supporting course logistics if requested.
  • Hold office hours and assist students with class problems when assigned.
  • Uphold academic integrity and all Department and University policies.
