Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations Glasgow, Perth or Dublin
Salary: £44,000 - £65,900 (UK) €57,600 - €86,400 (ROI) + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: 12 month fixed term contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join SSE’s centralised Record to Report (R2R) Centre of Excellence, where you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information that supports the success of the wider Group. Working as part of a collaborative and supportive team, you'll contribute across a range of accounting activities including General Ledger, Revenue, Fixed Assets, Treasury, Intercompany and VAT, Audit and Statutory Reporting. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation and safe, controlled ways of working, you'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships, share knowledge and help shape the future of our finance processes.
You will
- Deliver key month-end, half-year and year-end accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with Group requirements.
- Prepare and review journals, reconciliations and reporting outputs, investigating variances and providing clear explanations of financial movements.
- Maintain robust financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and audit trails, ensuring compliance, accuracy and a strong culture of accountability and safety.
- Support the successful delivery of external audits by preparing high-quality documentation and responding promptly to audit requests.
- Collaborate with Finance Managers, Assistant Accountants and Analysts to share knowledge, support colleagues and identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and digital ways of working.

You have
- A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and experience within accounting, financial reporting or financial control environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies, resolve issues and communicate findings clearly.
- A proactive mindset and genuine curiosity to improve processes, embrace innovation and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality, audit-ready outputs to agreed deadlines.
- A collaborative and supportive approach, with a commitment to maintaining safe, well-controlled processes and building positive working relationships across the business.
