Job Description
At Sage, we're helping businesses flow and thrive. We're looking for a talented Senior Accountant – M&A to join our Global Record to Report team and play a key role in integrating newly acquired businesses into Sage's finance environment.
In this role, you'll lead month-end close and reporting activities for acquired entities during their first six months post-acquisition, ensuring accurate, timely and controlled financial reporting. You'll partner closely with local finance teams, senior stakeholders and M&A integration leaders to support successful finance integrations across EMEA and North America.
At Sage we have a hybrid working pattern - candidates must be able to work in the Newcastle office 3 days a week and 2 from home.
This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities
What you'll be responsible for:
- Leading month-end close and reporting for newly acquired entities, ensuring compliance with Sage Group reporting requirements
- Partnering with local Finance Controllers and regional finance teams to transition acquired businesses into Sage's Global R2R operating model
- Preparing and reviewing management reports, balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis, identifying and resolving issues proactively
- Supporting acquisition and integration activities, including acquisition accounting, opening balance sheet reviews, cutover planning and control assessments
- Applying IFRS 3 Business Combinations expertise to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and financial reporting outcomes
- Working closely with M&A integration stakeholders to manage reporting milestones, track integration progress and mitigate risks
- Coordinating internal and external audit requirements and maintaining a strong control environment throughout the integration journey

What we're looking for:
- Qualified accountant with strong accounting, financial reporting and balance sheet control experience
- Proven experience managing month-end close processes in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of IFRS 3 and acquisition accounting principles
- Confident self-starter who thrives in complex and evolving environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly across North America and EMEA reporting deadlines when required
- Experience working within a global matrix organisation
