NRS Dounreay Radiation Protection Professional
NRS Dounreay are looking for an experienced Radiation Protection professional to lead a specialist community and manage radiation protection arrangements at NRS Dounreay. This is an opportunity to play a key role in ensuring compliance, supporting operational delivery, and driving continuous improvement across the nuclear site.
Working closely with site management, projects, regulators and stakeholders, you will provide expert advice, assurance and leadership to maintain high standards of radiation protection and support NRS Dounreay's decommissioning mission.
What Will You Be Doing
- Lead the radiation protection function, ensuring arrangements remain compliant with legislation, industry good practice and site standards.
- Provide expert advice, oversee assurance activities, and develop the capability of the radiation protection community.
- Develop, improve and maintain radiation protection management processes and standards within the Dounreay Integrated Management System, to provide compliance with radiation protection and safety legislation.
- Provide radiological advice to NRS Dounreay staff and projects to enable compliance with IRR17 and all NRS Dounreay radiological protection standards, procedures and instructions.
- Interface with stakeholders, including Regulators and auditors on radiation protection issues.
- Lead an appropriately resourced radiation protection community to provide the requisite radiation protection support, training, review and advice, to delivery projects and management.

Who Are We Looking For
- Motivated and experienced radiation protection professional with strong technical expertise, leadership skills and a thorough understanding of radiological protection legislation and standards.
- Confidence engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and influencing positive safety outcomes across the site.
- Degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent qualification plus experience.
- Radiation Protection Advisor Certificate.
- Experience of leading radiation protection programmes, processes and teams.
- Strong knowledge of radiological protection legislation, compliance and assurance activities.
- Post specific physical capability analysis assessment.
