Job Summary
An attractive opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology Department at the Great Western Hospital as a Band 5 Radiographer.
The successful candidate will conduct diagnostic radiological examinations across a range of clinical specialities, adapting techniques to accommodate a range of patient types; both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal requirements.

Main duties of the job
- To independently assess and justify referrals under IR(ME)R 2000 following practitioner guidelines where appropriate
- To interpret Clinician's requirements, to determine the appropriate radiographic imaging technique and ensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultant images are diagnostic
- To work out of hours to support the Radiology services offered at Great Western Hospitals; including night shifts and weekends
- To undertake CT scans when trained in the absence of a Radiologist according to agreed protocols once trained
- To use the departmental radiology information computer system (CRIS) as required and be conversant with the picture archive communication system (PACS)
- To undertake Quality Control procedures, including Quality Assurance testing for image quality and equipment safety
- To undertake and participate in clinical audit and research and to act on the findings where possible and provide statistical information on the work load when necessary
- To provide a service within the community hospital's as part of a band 5 rotation
- To complete all imaging requests in a timely manner

The Radiology Department undertakes approximately 251,300 examinations a year ranging over a variety of modalities. The successful applicant will be a keen team player who has image quality and patient care high on their agenda with a flexible approach to working hours. The department supports the development of your clinical skills and education, we encourage staff CPD.

Essential
- Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
- Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
- General Radiographic training
Desirable
- Evidence of CPD
- Intravenous cannulation
Experience
Essential
- General experience in Radiography
- Worked within NHS setting
Desirable
- CT Experience.
