Role Overview

The post holder will work as part of the Radiology team to deliver a high-quality, safe, and efficient diagnostic imaging service within the Plain Film department at Ealing Hospital. The role involves undertaking a wide range of general radiographic examinations across emergency, inpatient and outpatient pathways, ensuring excellent patient care and technical standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with radiologists, radiographers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to support timely diagnosis and patient flow.
  • Maintain compliance with IR(ME)R regulations and Trust policies.
  • Support service delivery, maintain equipment standards, participate in audit and continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to the supervision of students and new staff.

Duties

  • Perform a wide range of general radiographic examinations to a high technical and professional standard.
  • Ensure safe practice in line with IR(ME)R and IRR regulations at all times.
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care, ensuring dignity, safety, and comfort.
  • Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team to support service delivery and patient flow.
  • Participate in an extended hours shift system in line with Agenda for Change (including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays).
  • Undertake CT scanning duties following appropriate training and competency sign-off.
  • Use clinical judgement and seek senior support where required.
  • Participate in the “red dot” system to highlight potential abnormalities.
  • Undertake cannulation and administration of contrast media following training.
  • Maintain and monitor imaging equipment, reporting faults appropriately.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, audit, and clinical governance activities.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and comply with information governance policies.
  • Support the training, supervision, and mentoring of students and new staff.
  • Maintain own continuing professional development and HCPC registration.
  • Adhere to Trust policies including health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding.
