St Helena Island, South Atlantic
2 years FTC available immediately
Total package value up to £71k per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The package is inclusive of International Supplement based on family status, Relocation costs and Pension contribution.
Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid. The 23-bed General Hospital in the capital, Jamestown, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care.
In this vital role you will help to develop the existing radiology service to meet changing needs, ensuring the department is IRR 2017 and IR(ME)R 2017 compliant, with QA and audit.
Your time will be divided between:
- Providing radiography services in x-ray, CT and mammography
- Teaching and professional development of nurses and students
- Producing and updating protocols and guidelines
- Participating in clinical and staff meetings
You will share on-call cover arrangements for out-of-hours emergencies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holding a Diploma from the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
- A State Registered Radiographer with a current registration certificate or equivalent
- Knowledge of PACS plus substantial post-qualification experience in general radiography including CT and mammography

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
