Radiology Department Assistant (RDA)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Radiology team as a Radiology Department Assistant (RDA). This is a key support role within a busy and patient-focused department, providing essential assistance to Radiographers, Sonographers, Radiologists, and nursing staff.

The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of the department, supporting clinical activity across various imaging modalities such as X-ray, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound. Duties will include patient preparation, assisting with moving and handling, infection control processes, stocking and maintaining equipment, and providing high standards of patient care at all times.

• Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication skills, compassion, and a professional approach when interacting with patients, relatives, and colleagues.
  • The role may involve working across multiple sites and participating in a shift rota, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays where required.
  • Carry out duties as assigned; involving patient care and welfare; assisting the Radiology team where appropriate.
  • Assist patients prior to, during, and after the examination including being able to give the patient a basic explanation of procedures.
  • Assist in the safe discharge of the patient from the department.
  • Demonstrate high levels of patient care and work closely with qualified staff maintaining a hands-on approach to patient needs.
  • Adhere to Infection control measures and perform the cleaning of equipment post procedure in line with relevant protocols and policies.
