Role Description
The Rail Tendering Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Derby, focused on developing competitive and technically sound tenders for rail projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Preparing and reviewing quotations
- Compiling tender documentation
- Coordinating with engineering, procurement, and commercial teams to secure accurate costings and technical inputs
- Analyzing customer requirements and technical specifications
- Identifying risks and opportunities
- Ensuring proposals comply with industry standards and company policies

The Rail Tendering Engineer will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, support negotiations, and contribute to continuous improvement in tendering processes and tools. The position also requires maintaining up-to-date market, product, and regulatory knowledge relevant to rail and electrical engineering applications.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in preparing quotations and tender documentation for rail or related engineering projects.
- Demonstrated analytical skills for reviewing technical specifications, cost structures, and project risks.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with customers and suppliers.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier evaluation, and cost optimization in an engineering environment.
- Background in electrical engineering or a related discipline, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical or similar), or equivalent technical qualification and experience.
- Experience in the rail industry or other regulated infrastructure sectors is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency with MS Office and relevant tendering or ERP tools; strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Derby, manage multiple tenders simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
