About The Role

Being able to provide consistent network performance is critically important to all our customers (BT, PlusNet, EE and Emergency Service Network), achieved through implementation of agreed parameter designs and implementation of efficient process automation through python coding and robotic process automation.

The output of this role has a direct impact on:

  • Continual improvement of configuration processes through design and implementation of automated deployment tasks.
  • Design of Self Optimising Network routines specific to the BT Radio Access Network, by writing code using Python and analytics of data held in GCP and AWS

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You will be working in a team to write python code to automate processes to improve the performance of the radio network. Using the Nokia Manta Ray SON (MR-SON) tool.
  • Implementation of configuration plans to the network, including working outside of normal office hours.
  • Working with configuration processes of Network Element Managers and auditing the network data using the WIM Unison system for 2G, 4G and 5G RAN.
  • Designing open and closed loop automations using Unison and MR-SON, through Python based software development kits.
  • You will also be a member of the RAN transformation programme to support the automation of manual processes across the various departments of Radio Access Networks. Using the BluePrism RPA tool.
  • Ensuring that all systems introduced adhere to GDPR and Security Policies (such as TSA & Copass / CGP).

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Practical experience in PYTHON programming, and ability to develop to an advance level.
  • Excellent data analytical skills, with the ability to present findings and derive technical and business recommendations.
  • Manipulating & interpreting multiple sources of complex data to derive both technical design guidelines and strategic recommendations.
  • An understanding of IT environments.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience of working with databases and SQL.
  • Understanding of Mobile Radio Network GERAN/UTRAN/EUTRAN/OSS architectures and the design and operational processes to develop and run the network.
  • Mobile Telecommunication background.
  • Knowledge of Virtualisation.
  • Experience of working with cloud hosted data such as Google Cloud Platform.
