Role: RAN Performance Engineer

Location: Any Core site - London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Ipswich, Glasgow.

Duration: Initial 6 Month Contract

Day Rate: Up to £420 per Inside IR35

The Role

We are looking for an experienced RAN Performance Engineer to support the performance of a leading UK mobile network.

This role is focused on identifying network performance issues, investigating the root cause, raising incidents, and working with operational teams to restore service and improve customer experience.

You will analyse network KPIs from high-level regional views down to individual cell performance, helping to ensure the network continues to perform at its best.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse RAN performance KPIs.
  • Investigate KPI degradation and identify root causes.
  • Analyse Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia performance counters and alarms.
  • Investigate customer-reported network issues.
  • Raise and manage incidents through to resolution.
  • Work closely with operations and managed service providers to resolve performance issues.
  • Recommend and implement actions to improve network performance.
  • Produce reports and evidence to support decision making.
  • Help improve AI-driven network performance monitoring tools.
  • Share knowledge and support less experienced team members.

Primary / Mandatory Skills

  • Strong experience within Mobile Network / RAN Performance.
  • Experience investigating KPI performance issues and carrying out root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of Huawei, Ericsson and/or Nokia performance counters.
  • Experience analysing network alarms and operational data.
  • Incident management experience.
  • Experience working within a live operational mobile network environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to make decisions using incomplete or ambiguous information.
  • Strong communication skills.

  • 4G and 5G network experience.
  • Drive test analysis.
  • Attoll experience.
  • Coverage analysis and planning knowledge.
  • SQL, Python, Power BI or other data analytics tools.
  • Experience working with AI or automation tools.

Additional Information

Operational support role covering extended service hours.

Working hours fall between 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and 9am-5pm weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis.
