About Nexibium
Nexibium provides independent network intelligence, validation and engineering services for mobile operators, MVNOs, private networks and enterprise connectivity environments. We combine field engineering, network measurement and evidence-led analysis to help customers understand network performance, identify deployment issues and validate whether mobile infrastructure is operating as designed.
We are looking for an experienced RAN Site Audit, Deployment & Integration Engineer to support mobile network projects across the UK.
This is a hands-on engineering role covering RAN site audits, equipment installation verification, commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, acceptance testing and network validation. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently at customer and network sites and producing clear technical evidence and reports following each activity.
Key Responsibilities
RAN Site Audits
- Perform detailed technical audits of existing and newly deployed mobile network sites.
- Activities may include:
- Inspecting installed RAN equipment and verifying implementation against design documentation.
- Checking Baseband Units, Radio Units, Remote Radio Heads, antennas and associated infrastructure.
- Verifying antenna configuration, orientation, height, azimuth and tilt where applicable.
- Inspecting RF feeders, fibre connections, jumpers and associated cabling.
- Checking equipment labelling and installation quality.
- Reviewing power, grounding/earthing and environmental conditions.
- Verifying GPS, timing and synchronisation configuration.
- Checking transmission and backhaul connectivity where required.
- Identifying installation defects, configuration discrepancies and outstanding implementation issues.
- Producing photographic evidence and structured site audit reports.
- Creating defect/punch lists and recommended corrective actions.
- Supporting pre-deployment, post-deployment and acceptance audits.
RAN Deployment & Installation Support
- Support deployment of LTE and 5G radio infrastructure across mobile and private network environments.
- This may include:
- Baseband Units (BBU)
- Distributed/Baseband systems
- Remote Radio Units / Remote Radio Heads (RRU/RRH)
- 4G and 5G Radio Units
- Indoor Radio Units
- Small cells and indoor coverage systems
- Antenna systems
- Private 4G/5G infrastructure
- Work with installation teams, vendors and customers to ensure equipment is deployed according to approved designs and engineering standards.
Commissioning & Integration
- Perform RAN commissioning and integration activities including:
- Initial equipment commissioning.
- Radio software loading and upgrades.
- Node and cell configuration.
- Frequency and carrier configuration.
- Radio parameter configuration.
- Feature activation.
- Neighbour configuration.
- Synchronisation verification.
- Transport and connectivity validation.
- Alarm verification and clearance.
- Service activation.
- Integration with relevant network elements.
- Support integration activities from initial site deployment through to successful service activation.

Testing & Acceptance
- Perform technical validation following deployment and integration.
- Activities may include:
- Site Acceptance Testing (SAT/ATP).
- Cell availability verification.
- Alarm checks.
- Call and data service testing.
- LTE and 5G connectivity testing.
- Coverage validation.
- Mobility and handover validation.
- Throughput testing.
- Latency testing where required.
- Basic RF performance validation.
- Verification of network synchronisation.
- Post-integration health checks.
- Identify any deviations from expected behaviour and work with relevant engineering teams to resolve them.
RAN Troubleshooting
- Investigate and resolve deployment and integration issues including:
- RAN alarms.
- Cell outages.
- Hardware faults.
- Radio connectivity issues.
- Transmission/connectivity problems.
- Synchronisation faults.
- Configuration mismatches.
- Software issues.
- Poor RF performance.
- Mobility/handover problems.
- Service activation failures.
- Use alarms, logs, counters, configuration data and field measurements to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Field Network Validation
- Where required, support Nexibium's wider network validation activities.
- This may include:
- Walk testing.
- Drive testing.
- Indoor coverage validation.
- LTE/5G signal measurements.
- Voice and data service validation.
- RSRP, RSRQ and SINR measurements.
- Throughput and latency testing.
- Mobility and handover testing.
- Investigation of customer-reported coverage or service issues.
- The engineer may work alongside Nexibium's network intelligence and optimisation teams to correlate site-level findings with measured customer experience.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation for each activity.
- Typical deliverables may include:
- Site Audit Reports.
- Installation Verification Reports.
- Commissioning Reports.
- Integration Reports.
- Acceptance Test Reports.
- Site photographs.
- Alarm summaries.
- Configuration evidence.
- Defect/Punch Lists.
- Corrective Action recommendations.
- Handover documentation.
- Reports should clearly distinguish between observed evidence, identified issues and recommended actions.
Required Experience
- We are looking for someone with strong hands-on mobile network engineering experience.
- Ideally you will have:
- 4–5+ years of experience within RAN deployment, integration, commissioning or field engineering.
- Strong practical knowledge of 4G LTE and 5G NR.
- Experience performing RAN site audits or installation quality inspections.
- Experience commissioning and integrating mobile network sites.
- Understanding of mobile site architecture from antenna/radio through baseband and transmission connectivity.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting cells and radio equipment.
- Experience performing acceptance testing following deployment.
- Ability to analyse alarms, logs and basic RAN performance information.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
- Good understanding of RAN architecture, mobility and radio network fundamentals.

Vendor Experience
- Experience with one or more major RAN vendors is desirable, including:
- Ericsson
- Nokia
- Huawei
- Samsung
- Open RAN platforms
- Deep experience with every vendor is not required, but candidates should be comfortable working in multi-vendor network environments.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Private 4G / Private 5G networks.
- Indoor coverage systems.
- Small cells.
- Neutral-host networks.
- Open RAN.
- RF optimisation.
- Drive testing or walk testing.
- Network performance analysis.
- Site acceptance and quality audits.
- PIM / VSWR investigation.
- Transmission/backhaul troubleshooting.
- Enterprise wireless deployments.
- Customer acceptance testing.
- Experience with network testing tools such as Accuver/XCAL, TEMS, Nemo or similar platforms would also be advantageous.
Personal Skills
- The role requires someone who is:
- Hands-on and technically confident.
- Methodical when investigating technical problems.
- Able to work independently at customer sites.
- Comfortable interacting with customers, vendors and deployment teams.
- Able to explain technical findings clearly.
- Strong in technical documentation and reporting.
- Evidence-driven rather than assumption-driven.
- Comfortable taking ownership of issues through investigation and resolution.
Travel
- This is a field-oriented position.
- Candidates should be prepared to travel regularly to customer and mobile network sites across the UK. Some assignments may require overnight stays depending on project location.
- A valid UK driving licence is therefore highly desirable.
