Summary

Dyrham Park is a historic 500-year-old deer park, house and formal gardens all within the 273-acre site. The parkland is a mosaic of woodland, grasslands, veteran trees, avenues, deer, wildlife habitat, archaeology, ponds and a well-loved café in the heart of the parkland.

You will be part of the ranger team to deliver great nature conservation in the parkland, promoting the parkland for the benefit of nature, public access and representing the history of Dyrham Park. You will be an advocate for public engagement, sharing your skills and knowledge with staff and volunteers and being part of a wider garden and parkland team where you will work with gardeners, park deer manager, facilities team and visitor experience officers for the day-to-day operation of the parkland.

You will be an advocate for great countryside management and engage with consultants, stakeholders, staff and volunteers to ensure effective communication of the management of the parkland and highlight impact of operational activities and risk management.

Salary: £22,089 pro rate (FTE £27,612 per annum)
Contract: Permanent
Hours/working pattern: Part-time, 30 hours per week. Hours for this role are 8am - 4pm on a 7-day rota which includes 1 weekend every 5 weeks.
Interview date: Thursday 5th November

What It's Like To Work Here

We are a small ranger team but part of a wider team supporting each other with day-to-day tasks. You will be working outdoors on a daily basis in woodland, meadow and parkland with staff and volunteers. You will be supported to develop in career and train on equipment such as chainsaws and tractors.

What You'll Be Doing

  • You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery.
  • You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do.
  • Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.
  • You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard.
  • You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
