About the Role

Our Capability Development team develops bespoke software for our clients in the Cyber Security domain. We may be building assured software that prioritises engineering rigour and reliability, rapid cyber solutions that stitch together tooling for high-impact results, or blended operational systems that address real-world challenges in the field. Common to all is the commitment to technically led decisions, to meaningful technical challenge, and to engaging career paths where your work makes it off the shelf and into the hands of our customers. All of our roles demand strong technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering robust, dependable solutions that our clients can rely on when it matters most.

Role Description

This role is aimed at engineers who thrive in fast-moving, technically diverse environments where success comes from identifying the most effective solution and delivering it quickly. Rather than focusing on a single technology stack, you will combine existing tools, open-source software, automation, infrastructure, and bespoke development to create capabilities that solve real operational problems.

You will enjoy taking occasionally vague requirements and turning them into practical outcomes, rapidly evaluating options, integrating technologies, and iterating to maximise operational value. The emphasis is on delivering capability into the hands of customers quickly, while maintaining the engineering discipline needed to ensure solutions remain reliable, maintainable, and effective.

As part of our team, you may be:

  • Rapidly developing bespoke tools and capabilities to meet emerging operational requirements.
  • Integrating and extending existing applications, frameworks, and open-source tooling to deliver new outcomes.
  • Building representative environments to test, evaluate, and demonstrate solutions before deployment.

In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, designing, and delivering technical solutions in response to evolving customer needs. You will combine software development, automation, infrastructure, and operational tooling to achieve outcomes efficiently, selecting the most appropriate technologies rather than defaulting to a single approach.

You will work closely with colleagues and customers to understand problems, validate ideas quickly, and continuously improve delivered capabilities. You will mentor junior engineers, share practical knowledge across the team, and contribute to a culture of technical curiosity, collaboration, and delivery-focused problem-solving.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Salary

We are recruiting staff at all levels in this team, and are able to support market-leading salaries for every grade within our sector/location. We reward staff based on technical excellence and not years of experience, so it's important to us to speak with you to see which grade you would fit into - it's not always obvious from a CV! Your interviewer will spend time during your first interview speaking with you about how your skills and experience map against our grades, and discuss a salary band so that you know early what you can expect if you receive an offer from us. The technical interview will provide a deeper assessment of your skills against your mapped grade which ultimately determines whether you receive an offer and the exact salary.

Location

We are based in the centre of Cheltenham in a stunning new-build contemporary office, 5 minutes walk from the local shops and cafes.

Additional Details

Our interview process is quick and to the point: if you look like a good fit for the role, we'll schedule a brief call to discuss it in more detail and answer any questions you may have. If that goes well, we'll arrange a technical interview to understand your level of experience. We aim to get back to you with an answer within a couple of days of the technical interview.

Please note, due to the sensitivity of the role, successful applicants must hold an active Developed Vetting security clearance.

If you’re looking for a challenging role where you can make a real impact in the world, in a friendly environment and with all the support to advance your career, click apply.
