About Analyse Local
Analyse Local is a specialist GovTech business working with Local Authorities across England to help Business Rates, Council Tax and Revenues teams identify income, improve data quality and make better-informed decisions. Supporting more than 180 Local Authorities, we combine specialist property knowledge, research and technology to help maximise revenue and improve the accuracy of local taxation records.
Our mission is to support fairness in commercial property Business Rates and help Local Authorities maximise the collection of income that funds vital local services. As we continue to grow, we are investing in scalable delivery, stronger operational processes and better use of data, automation and insight.
The Role
We are looking for a Rating Researcher to join our Income Maximisation team.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will carry out detailed research into commercial properties to identify opportunities that may impact Business Rates revenue. Using a range of internal systems and external information sources, you will investigate properties, assess supporting evidence and prepare high-quality referrals for Local Authority clients.
The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong research skills and the ability to evaluate information from multiple sources to reach well-reasoned conclusions.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining research, analysis and technology to make a genuine impact within the public sector, while developing specialist knowledge in Business Rates, property data and income maximisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Research commercial properties using a range of internal and external information sources.
- Identify properties that may be missing from or incorrectly recorded within the Rating List.
- Review and assess property information to determine whether opportunities meet referral criteria.
- Collate, evaluate and record supporting evidence to support recommendations.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records within internal systems.
- Ensure all referrals meet required quality, evidential and compliance standards.
- Carry out validation and quality assurance checks on completed work.
- Manage a varied workload while meeting agreed productivity and quality targets.
- Liaise with colleagues and external organisations to obtain and verify information where required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of research processes, systems and working practices.
- Participate in team meetings, training and knowledge-sharing activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
