Job Overview
Matoke Holdings Ltd. is a Birmingham based biotech company, developing novel antimicrobial medical devices based upon patented ROä technology. The R&D associate role is a pivotal member of the Matoke R&D team and will aid in the design, development and testing of new antimicrobial wound dressings. The role reports to the Head of Research & Development.
Responsibilities for R&D Associate Scientist
- Perform testing and analyses using appropriate equipment
- Receive and process goods in and out
- Manufacture product samples
- Calculate test results and log using an electronic notebook
- Ensuring work is documented as per Good Laboratory Practice
- Draft protocols and reports
- Prepare experiments
- Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked, resourced and that everything is correctly labelled
- Maintain equipment in proper working order, ensuring that the equipment is calibrated if necessary and that a clean work area is maintained
- Practice safe working, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations

Qualifications for R&D Associate Scientist

- Undergraduate degree in an appropriate scientific field (e.g., chemistry or materials science)
- Computer skills: working knowledge of Microsoft Office and statistical graphing software
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement
- Competent at writing correspondence and reports
- Excellent organisational skills
- Meticulous attention to detail in the documenting of laboratory studies
- A tenacious personality with an ability to resolve problems independently
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and/or collaboratively as part of a team
- Confident communicator
- Within commuting distance of Birmingham Research Park (role is based 5-days per week on site)
