Your role
As the R&D Business Partner you will support the Semiconductor Division by delivering high-quality, timely business and financial analysis to facilitate effective decision-making. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Head of R&D Operations and the broader engineering leadership team to provide insights, identify opportunities, highlight risks, and contribute to the Division’s sustainable and profitable growth. You will also play a vital role in protecting the business from financial risks by ensuring robust internal controls and adherence to Group finance principles and processes.
You Will
Business Partnership
- Deliver monthly financial results and R&D variance analysis for both the SUN Division and the Engineering teams
- Lead R&D monthly forecasting for project expenditures
- Support the annual R&D target-setting process
- Provide clear, value-adding financial insights and analysis to support R&D Operations decision-making
- Participate in and support Business Reviews with Customer Centres and Product Companies
- Develop financial agility plans to mitigate the impact of fluctuating demand and safeguard profitability
Financial Control & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with Atlas Copco Group financial controls and processes (“The Way We Do Things”)
- Prepare and submit all required SUN Division monthly reports to VTBA and Atlas Copco Group
- Provide analysis on R&D Expenditure, Capital Expenditure, and Headcount
- Support and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring sustainable resolution of issues

Contribution to Wider Initiatives
- Actively contribute to Vacuum Technique Business Area initiatives, including systems improvements and month-end process optimization
- Support Group-level initiatives, such as investment reporting and accounting for acquisitions
People & Safety
- Coach and develop peers, enhancing capabilities within the divisional finance and engineering teams
- Actively promote health, safety, and wellbeing by ensuring compliance with all safety requirements and appropriately reporting hazards
To succeed, you will need

- Degree-level education
- Part Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) with a minimum of two years of relevant financial experience
- Fluent in English
- Effective presenter and communicator, capable of clearly explaining detailed project data and risks to diverse audiences with varying backgrounds and skill levels
- Strong proficiency with systems and a proven history of delivering finance function solutions for reporting and business intelligence needs
- Proactive and innovative self-starter with a strong focus on customer service
- Ability to build strong, successful relationships both within and beyond the finance team, fostering organizational commitment to ensure seamless resolution of issues

Job location
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Burgess Hill Office in West Sussex, UK.
