Job Title: R&D Chemist
Location: Office Based, Derby
Key duties and responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to
- Carry out all work in accordance with the QMS, to agreed timelines and specifications.
- Perform Technical Service work as requested and communicate results effectively with customers. Process samples in connection with technical service activities, record and report results as appropriate.
- Provide absence/holiday cover for the manufacturing QC function as required.
- Carry out R&D work on new products, improvements to existing formulations and evaluation of new and alternative raw materials.
- Attend QC meetings as required, produce data on QC test results and work on technical improvements in production processes.
- Represent the department at meetings as required. Produce and present data on project progress and test results.
- Originate and maintain medical device technical documentation in accordance with scheduled updates and new requirements, working closely with the Quality & Regulatory department.

Education or qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in chemistry or a related discipline (essential).
- Relevant industrial experience (desirable).
- Knowledge and experience in chemical formulation. (desirable)
- IT skills – MS Office
