About Bioquell
Bioquell, a brand of Ecolab, based at Andover Hampshire UK, designs and manufactures products based on Hydrogen Peroxide vapour technology, which is used for decontamination in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sectors. The products and consumables are manufactured on the same site as the R&D facility and are then exported globally.
Role Overview
The role is based at Andover, where there are well-equipped prototype workshops and test rooms. You will be working within a 13-strong multidisciplinary R&D team, consisting of controls engineers, microbiologists, a chemist, mechanical design engineers, an analysis engineer, one test and development engineer, with this role adding a second.
What You’ll Do
- Predominantly work on new product development along with the development of existing products.
- Generate product approval test plans.
- Perform product mechanical and process testing.
- Create test reports.
- Provide regular management information updates and reports.
- Provide feedback to guide the DFMEA.
- Investigate customer issues.
New Product Development
- Develop new products to widen and renew the product range.
- Use a comprehensive New Product Introduction process to collaborate with all stakeholders in the new products.
- Use a variety of materials in the design using different manufacturing processes, some in-house and others subcontracted.
- Update and change existing products due to obsolescence, production issues, site issues, and developing requirements.
- Develop additional customer-specific requirements and features, allowing a deeper understanding of the Pharmaceutical industry.

Production Support
- Provide a mechanical workshop skills resource to Production as a solution to quality and process problems that may arise during product build.
Customer Support
- Help to identify and get to the root cause of customer issues and product quality problems.
What You’ll Need
- Apprenticeship or similar in an engineering discipline, ideally mechanical.
- Hands-on experience in product approval testing essential.
- Experience in designing and building test rigs important.
- Appreciation of instrumenting equipment for testing.
- Ability to analyze test results important.
- Design of experiments and writing test plans and reporting results essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills a must.
- Knowledge of the C family of programming languages, Siemens S7-1200 PLC logic, and Arduino advantageous but not essential.

R&D Facility
The R&D facility is well-equipped with a workshop including 3D printers, existing products, test rooms including an environmental chamber to allow designs to be prototyped and tested.
