Keyfix, part of The Keystone Group of companies, specializes in the development of non-combustible masonry accessories, providing the complete non-combustible cavity solution for external masonry facades in projects over 18m+.
As the business continues to evolve we currently have an opening for a R&D Engineer based in Cookstown, County Tyrone.
About The Role
Reporting to our Senior R&D Engineer you will identify and research new technologies and will work closely with our technical teams to provide the most cost efficient route for all projects.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the development of new products, technologies and technical processes from concept through to commercialisation.
- Identify opportunities for product improvement, innovation, cost reduction and performance management.
- Research new technologies and evaluate technical concepts and development proposals.
- Carry out engineering calculations, analysis, testing and validation activities.
- Manage assigned R&D projects to agreed timescales, establish objectives, milestone and technical deliverables, identifying technical risks, issues and resource requirements.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry developments.
- Support preparation for customer, quality, regulatory and technical audits.
- Maintain appropriate records of development work, testing, results and design changes.
- Support all relevant testing, validation and documentation necessary and in line with production trials.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to Senior R&D Engineer and wider senior leadership team and when required.
- Support investigations into product, process and quality issues.

What You'll Need To Succeed
- You will be an effective problem solver, breaking complex problems into manageable solutions.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, production team members and external stakeholders such as auditors and other regulatory bodies.
- Adapt quickly and be comfortable with new technologies and methods.
- Balance research, testing and documentation in line with shifting priorities and timescales.
What We're Looking For
- You will be educated to third level within a relevant engineering discipline such as product design, mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
- You will have attained a minimum of 12 months recent, relevant experience within a similar R&D field. Those within a construction related background would be desirable.
- You will be fully proficient in Solidworks packages.
- You will have experience supporting and ideally leading audits and compliance reviews within a manufacturing setting.
