Role: R&D Manager - Electronics
Location: Hertfordshire
Hours: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Bolt Technical are exclusively recruiting for a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced R&D Manager - Electronics to join an innovative R&D Team, within an established business developing electronic products.
Working closely with the Managing Director, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and oversee the full product development lifecycle, from concept and design through to testing, compliance, and production.
Duties of an R&D Manager - Electronics
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary R&D engineering team of 4
- Define and deliver the R&D strategy in line with business objectives
- Oversee the design and development of electronic products
- Manage products from concept and feasibility through to prototyping, testing, and production
- Provide technical leadership across electronics, embedded systems, and product development
- Oversee product testing, validation, and regulatory compliance
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality teams
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring priorities, timescales, and deliverables are met
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across the product portfolio

What you need to apply for R&D Manager - Electronics
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related discipline
- Proven experience leading an R&D or engineering team within electronics product development
- Previous experience in a people management role
- Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems, and microcontrollers
- Experience with communication technologies such as DALI, Bluetooth, Zigbee, DMX, or Ethernet
- Proven experience taking electronic products from concept through to production
- Understanding of regulatory, compliance, testing, and certification requirements
- Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills
- Experience using engineering design tools such as Altium and embedded development environments
