Analytical Scientist – Food Chemistry & Analytical Method Development
About the Role
We are seeking an Analytical Scientist to join our Analytical Innovation team, specialising in food chemistry and analytical method development. This role focuses on supporting product development, quality, and innovation through comprehensive analytical strategy, method development, and data interpretation.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong foundation in food chemistry
- Expertise in analytical method development and validation
- Preference (but not limited to) for experience in protein and fibre analysis
- Ability to collaborate across R&D, quality, regulatory, and external partners

Responsibilities
- Lead analytical testing and method development across a range of food systems, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Apply food chemistry expertise to interpret complex analytical data and deliver clear, actionable insights for R&D.
- Develop, optimise, and validate fit-for-purpose analytical methods to improve accuracy, robustness, and speed.
- Support analytical work across raw materials, finished products, and reformulation challenges.
- Provide technical expertise in protein and fibre analysis where required.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams (product development, nutrition, regulatory, quality) and external partners.
- Facilitate method transfer and consistency across internal and external laboratories.
- Help shape the future of Analytical Innovation within Measurement Science.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s or PhD in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Strong laboratory experience in analytical testing of food systems.
- Preferred but not exclusive: experience in protein and fibre analysis.
- Proven expertise in method development and validation.
- Ability to analyse data, interpret results, and inform decision-making.
- Industry experience in FMCG, food R&D, or analytical laboratories is beneficial.
