R&D Project Engineer

Abingdon

Fancy taking a project from a blank sheet of paper right through to a customer sailing off happily into the sunset?

We're on the hunt for a Project Engineer who's not afraid to get their hands dirty. You'll be the one turning customer wish-lists into reality — working the CAD, sorting the BOMs, chasing suppliers, and getting stuck into build and test. One minute you're in a design review, the next you're out on the production line solving a problem nobody saw coming.

This isn't a desk-bound, watch-the-clock kind of job. You'll be involved from the very first sketch all the way through to the finished product — and everything in between. If you like variety, this is about as varied as engineering gets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Sound like you?

Here's what you'll need:

  • Proper CAD ability — a degree-level engineering background, 5+ years' experience as a Project Engineer, and genuine skill in a 3D CAD environment, including component/assembly modelling and technical drawings
  • A problem-solver's mindset — solid understanding of mechanical systems and fabricated components (steel, aluminium, plastics), and a knack for engineering your way out of a tricky spot with practical, innovative solutions
  • Bonus points — any experience with GRP mouldings, fluid circuits, or electrical systems will get you noticed, though it's not a dealbreaker if you haven't
