Working in our Tax Team

You’ll help clients prepare and submit Research and Development (R&D) tax relief claims. You’ll gather financial and project information, calculate the available tax relief, prepare the supporting report and make sure the claim is included correctly in the company tax return and year-end accounts.

You’ll speak directly with clients to understand the projects behind their claim and answer their tax queries. You’ll also work closely with our payroll, accounts and wider tax teams to collect the information you need and keep each claim moving through to submission.

A regular to-do list includes:

  • Gathering financial information from Xero and calculating the R&D tax relief available
  • Working with the payroll team to collect the information needed for each claim
  • Meeting clients on Zoom and using questionnaires to understand their R&D projects
  • Preparing R&D technical reports using Wow templates
  • Preparing the CT600 to include the R&D claim details
  • Working with the accounts team to make sure the claim is reflected correctly in the year-end accounts
  • Helping to submit R&D claims and chasing HMRC for updates
  • Answering client questions about R&D and other tax matters by email, phone and video call
  • Monitoring the R&D workflow and helping the team keep work moving
  • Identifying clients who may be able to make an R&D claim
  • Raising invoices and keeping up to date with the team’s targets

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
