We are looking for an R&D Tax Consultant based in London.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team at the intersection of where innovation and finance meet.

  • Working with a collaborative team and managing your own client portfolio, you will get exposure across different sectors and industries, working closely with our clients' finance, tax, and scientific or technical profiles.

Key Responsibilities

The Consultant will be responsible for providing specialist advice to FI Group UK’s clients on R&D tax reliefs, including the technical, tax, and financial aspects of the relief schemes.

  • Managing the end-to-end claims process of the assigned client portfolio and maintaining excellent client relations.
  • A key aspect of the role will be the management and preparation of technical written reports supporting claims for R&D tax reliefs.
  • Interviewing in-house technical staff to gain an understanding of their activities and to determine whether the activity is eligible for R&D for the purposes of the reliefs being sought.
  • Working with the relevant client contacts to gather detailed financial, HR, and any other data to facilitate the calculation of the relief, including where necessary designing methodologies for quantifying the eligible R&D expenditure.
  • Preparing and reviewing structured reports in support of the claims made, including descriptions of the R&D projects identified and setting out why the projects are considered eligible for relief.
  • Contact and liaise directly with HMRC on behalf of clients to discuss and obtain agreements of the claims, including attending meetings, telephone calls, and drafting written correspondence.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a high-performing individual with:

  • A strong technical background.
  • R&D tax experience (although not necessary).
  • Experience with technical writing and professional correspondence.
