R&D Technician

Haddenham (Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire)

Maternity cover - fixed-term contract up to 12 months

Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and compound seasoning samples, including some cooking and handling of meat and poultry ingredients where required.
  • Apply seasonings to relevant product bases and prepare samples for research, shelf-life testing, and other business needs.
  • Prepare and dispatch samples to customers globally, ensuring country-specific customs requirements are met.
  • Maintain laboratory stock of raw materials, experimental materials, and product bases, ensuring appropriate stock levels, FIFO rotation, and shelf-life compliance.
  • Set up and support internal tasting panels for flavour evaluation of raw materials, finished products, and trial samples, including maintaining tasting records.
  • Maintain R&D/PPI reference samples in line with the Gold Standard Programme.
  • Use existing laboratory systems to maintain accurate data and traceability of raw materials and finished products.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Previous experience in the food industry or a laboratory environment would be an advantage.
  • Interest in food science, product development, and a desire to learn and grow within R&D.
  • A-level education or equivalent.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented, with a careful and accurate approach to tasks.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
