Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a meticulous and reliable R&D Technician to join our R&D team at our facility in Wantage, Oxon. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in laboratory operations, a strong understanding of chemical processes, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

This is a fixed term contract for up to 12 months.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare and test chemical samples according to established procedures.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Record and analyze test results accurately, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Support research and development projects by conducting routine and specialized tests.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and ensure proper storage of chemicals.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines within the laboratory.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to testing or equipment.
  • Support pilot-coating and formulation mixing for R&D Chemists.
  • Carry out development product characterisation and performance evaluations.
  • Provide statistical, product performance data in supporting Development Projects.
  • Participate in technical discussions with R&D Chemists, providing scientific insight based on the product performance data.

Who You Are

  • Detail-oriented and precise in your work.
  • Safety-conscious and responsible in handling chemicals and equipment.
  • A team player who communicates effectively and collaborates well.
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Curious and eager to learn new techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to link chemistry and material science to the recorded product performance data.
  • Ability to report on the progress of evaluations, and to meet deadlines.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications is required. Experience with DOE and statistical analysis software (e.g. minitab) would be advantageous.
  • Ideally degree qualified in chemistry or a related subject.
