Sparta Global are hiring a number of React Developers

Sparta Global are hiring a number of React Developers to support the design, development, and evolution of front-end applications.

You will work closely with architects, product owners, UX teams, and backend engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while ensuring consistency across the front-end ecosystem.

This is an initial 6-Month FTC, with lots of room for extensions, and will require 2 days per week on-site in Birmingham.

Responsibilities

  • Define and govern front-end architecture, standards, and development best practices.
  • Establish and enforce accessibility standards aligned with WCAG guidelines and inclusive design principles.
  • Define testing strategies, tooling, and quality standards across the front-end landscape.
  • Ensure adequate coverage through unit, integration, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Drive decisions around state management, application structure, performance, security, accessibility, and code quality.
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor developers on engineering best practices.

  • Strong experience with React.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Deep understanding of front-end architecture, design patterns, and component-driven development.
  • Extensive experience with Redux / Redux Toolkit and state management strategies.
  • Strong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and front-end performance optimization.
  • Good understanding of WCAG accessibility standards, semantic HTML, ARIA patterns, and accessible UI development practices.
  • Good experience establishing testing strategies and implementing automated testing solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright, Vitest, or equivalent.
  • Experience establishing coding standards, development frameworks, and engineering best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Proven experience conducting code reviews and mentoring developers.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies.
