Role Description

React Full Stack Lead Developer

Sheffield, UK

6 Months Contract

Responsibilities

  • As a Senior React Developer, you will design, build, and maintain the user-facing parts of web applications, creating interactive, accessible, and visually appealing experiences.
  • You will take ownership of frontend architecture and system design decisions, ensuring the application performs reliably across devices and browsers while meeting high standards for usability, accessibility, and maintainability.
  • You will also act as POD lead and support Junior React developers.

  • Lead the design and development of complex React-based user interfaces using modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Own frontend system design for key journeys, balancing performance, accessibility, security, scalability, and developer experience.
  • Build reusable component libraries and patterns to drive consistency across products and teams.
  • Improve existing codebases by debugging issues, enhancing layouts, and adding new functionality with high-quality engineering practices.
  • Ensure cross-browser and responsive behavior across desktop and mobile devices.
  • Champion accessibility (e.g., semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, ARIA where appropriate) and inclusive design practices.
  • Collaborate closely with product, UX/UI, backend engineers, and QA to deliver seamless end-to-end experiences.
  • Drive code quality through reviews, testing strategies, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and ways of working.
