About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Reactor Technologist to support the growth of our Advanced Reactors business across the UK and international nuclear markets.
This is a senior, client-facing role that combines deep technical expertise with commercial acumen and strategic business development. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will contribute to the growth of Amentum's Advanced Reactors capability by developing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and leading technical delivery across a range of projects.
You will support clients throughout the development and deployment of advanced reactor technologies, providing technical advice and delivering consultancy services across the nuclear sector.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in one of the fastest-growing areas of the global nuclear industry. The role offers the opportunity to work with reactor developers, utilities, government organizations, regulators, and other industry stakeholders on the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies.

This role can be based in our Warrington, Manchester, or Knutsford office.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Support the Operations Manager in developing and delivering the Advanced Reactors growth strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients across the UK and international markets.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and convert these into sustainable business growth.
- Contribute to market strategy through awareness of industry developments and emerging technologies.
- Support proposal preparation, bid activities, and client presentations.
- Represent Amentum as a recognised industry leader at industry events, technical forums, and conferences.
- Collaborate across Amentum's global business to develop integrated client solutions.
Technical Leadership
- Act as a recognised technical authority across advanced reactor technologies.
- Lead technical consultancy assignments including technology assessments, owner's engineer services, independent technical reviews, feasibility studies, and strategic advisory work.
- Advise clients on reactor technology selection, deployment strategies, licensing, safety, operations, and lifecycle considerations.
- Provide expert advice into reactor technologies including:
- Generation III/III+ reactors
- Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)
- Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs)
- Generation IV reactor systems
- High Temperature Gas Reactors (HTGR)
- Molten Salt Reactors (MSR)
- Sodium, Lead, and Gas Fast Reactors
- Microreactors
- Ensure technical excellence and quality across project delivery.
- Mentor and develop the next generation of reactor specialists within Amentum.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration.
- Significant experience (typically 15+ years) in the nuclear industry.
- Experience across reactor technologies and deployment programmes.
- Strong understanding of reactor design, licensing, safety assessment, operations, and nuclear regulation.
- Experience delivering technical consultancy or advisory services.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to align technical solutions with client and business objectives.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

- Experience working with international reactor vendors or nuclear utilities.
- Knowledge of UK, US, and international regulatory frameworks.
- Experience supporting new nuclear deployment programmes.
- Established professional network within the advanced reactor sector.
- Experience working with government organizations, investors, or reactor developers.
- International project delivery and business development experience.
