Company Description
Boys To Men CIO is a new charity dedicated to ensuring that boys have access to consistent, positive role models in their lives. The organization supports boys and young men aged 8–17 across South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire through mentoring, weekly group sessions, outdoor activities, life skills development, and community opportunities. Boys To Men CIO also provides guidance and peer support to adults raising boys without a co-parent or positive role model, helping them feel connected and supported. Founded by Clynton Johnson, who brings extensive charity sector experience and lived insight into growing up without such guidance, the organization is currently in its founding phase, developing its governance, volunteer program, and community partnerships. The charity welcomes volunteers, partners, funders, and community members who want to contribute to its mission and follow its progress.

Role Description
The Reading Mentor is a volunteer, on-site role based in the United Kingdom, starting in South Yorkshire supporting children and young people in developing confidence and enjoyment in reading. In this role, the mentor will lead or support reading sessions, help young people select age-appropriate and engaging books, and offer encouragement, guidance, and positive reinforcement.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Working with individuals and small groups
- Modeling effective reading strategies
- Asking thoughtful questions to build comprehension
- Creating a calm, supportive environment for learning

- Collaborate with staff and other volunteers
- Follow safeguarding and organizational policies
- Provide basic feedback on young people’s progress
Occasional participation in training, planning meetings, and community activities may be required to enhance the reading program and ensure consistency of support.
Qualifications
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection standards, including willingness to undertake background checks and relevant training.
- Reliability and consistency in attendance, with the capacity to volunteer regularly on-site in South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, or Lincolnshire.
- An interest in reading, education, youth development, or social impact; prior experience in the charity or community sector is beneficial but not required.
