Location: Bedford

Department: Production

Shift: Pink and Blue Shift - Days

As a key member of our production team, reporting to the Shift Manager, you’ll lead the Bake at Home department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations while inspiring your team to perform at their best. With a strong focus on organisation, performance, and continuous improvement, you’ll help us exceed business targets and reduce waste.


Team Supervision

  • Leverage your experience in managing small teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideally within the food industry.

Standards Compliance

  • Ensure production aligns with Health & Safety, Quality, and Food Safety standards. Identify and report any non-conformances, safeguarding our commitment to top-tier quality.

Product & Packaging Quality

  • Maintain strict control over product quality and packaging to meet our exacting standards.

Shift Management

  • Step up as an effective leader, providing direction in the absence of the Shift Manager.

Team Leadership

  • Embody Lantmännen Unibake values. Build a positive workplace through coaching, support, and development of your team members.

Health & Safety

  • Foster a safe work environment by conducting safety walks, enforcing PPE use, performing pre-startup checklists, and addressing safety concerns promptly.

Operational Efficiency

  • Ensure that Production Operatives follow Standard Operating Procedures, manage breaks effectively, and provide seamless shift handovers.

Quality Assurance

  • Uphold 5S standards, complete and verify paperwork, and participate in line meetings, investigations, and production reviews.

Effective Communication

  • Keep your team engaged and informed by sharing company updates and new initiatives.

Training & Development

  • Support ongoing training initiatives and contribute to a multi-skilled, adaptable workforce.

About You

  • Safety & Quality Focused: You’re dedicated to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Detail-Oriented: Your attention to detail and follow-through is second to none.
  • Excellent Communicator: You communicate effectively and influence positive change.
  • Team-Oriented: You’re a highly motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Your Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven background supervising teams in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the food industry.
  • Qualifications: Level 2 CIEH Food Hygiene (Level 3 preferred), IOSH Managing Safely, with First Aid or Fire Warden qualifications as a bonus.
  • People Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a talent for building positive relationships.

Shift Pattern

  • You will be working 12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
  • Week 1 & 3: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (4 days on, 3 days off).
  • Week 2 & 4: Thursday, Friday, Saturday (3 days on, 4 days off).

You will be provided with yearly shift pattern.


Salary

  • £14.40 per hour – day shift rate.
  • £21.59 per hour – overtime rate.
