About The Team

Freeths’ highly rated and award-winning team of over 200 real estate lawyers operates from 12 UK locations. Our Liverpool and Manchester Real Estate teams advise on a broad range of commercial property and real estate finance matters, acting for lenders, borrowers, developers, investors, and occupiers on transactions across the UK.

The team is led by Luke Hopkins, Partner, who specialises in real estate finance and advises both institutional and alternative lenders, as well as borrowers, on acquisition, development, and investment finance transactions. The Liverpool and Manchester practice acts for a diverse client base, including major banks, challenger banks, developers, and property investors, advising on acquisition finance, development finance, refinancing transactions, and portfolio lending arrangements.

About The Role

The team is continuing to expand and is looking to recruit an Associate/Senior Associate with 2-4 years’ PQE gained within a strong real estate finance, banking and finance, or commercial property practice.

You will work closely with Luke Hopkins on a broad range of real estate finance matters, acting for both lenders and borrowers on transactions involving investment, acquisition, and development finance. The role will also provide exposure to wider commercial property and banking matters, allowing you to develop a well-rounded practice within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Typical Responsibilities Will Include

  • Advising lenders and borrowers on acquisition, development, and investment finance transactions.
  • Managing transaction processes from instruction through to completion.
  • Drafting and negotiating finance-related property documentation.
  • Conducting and reporting on due diligence exercises.
  • Supporting refinancing and portfolio transactions.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the Real Estate and Banking & Finance teams on complex and high-value matters.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
