Real Estate Finance Associate/Senior Associate

A leading international law firm is looking to hire an Associate into its well-regarded Real Estate Finance practice in London.
The role sits within a broader Real Estate Group and offers the opportunity to work closely with banks, lenders, developers, investors, and other property-sector clients on sophisticated real estate finance matters.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated real estate finance sub-team, with a particular focus on the property aspects of real estate finance transactions.
The Role
The role will involve advising primarily lenders on the real estate aspects of their financing transactions, including:
- Conducting property due diligence, including reviewing Certificates of Title and preparing property reports
- Advising on property-related conditions precedent
- Reviewing completion undertakings and completion mechanics
- Dealing with borrower requests for lender consents, including consents relating to new occupational leases
- Advising on property issues arising in real estate finance transactions
- Working alongside colleagues in insolvency and restructuring on property matters following the appointment of receivers and administrators
- Supporting the wider Real Estate team on standard property matters, including acquisitions and disposals
- Working with international counsel and other professional advisers on cross-border transactions where required

The Practice
The Real Estate Group is an established and growing practice comprising a substantial team of partners and fee earners.
The real estate finance team has a strong track record advising lenders and borrowers across the property sector and is known for providing practical, commercial solutions to complex transactions.
The team works across a broad client base, including banks and other lenders, developers, investors, and end-users. There is also close interaction with the firm's insolvency and restructuring practice, providing exposure to property issues arising from distressed situations and formal appointments.
The firm places a strong emphasis on associate development, with regular technical know-how and legal training sessions alongside dedicated development initiatives covering areas such as business development and client management.
Candidate Profile
The firm is looking for a property lawyer with:
- 3-7 years' experience gained within a strong property practice
- A genuine interest in developing a career in real estate finance
- Experience with the real estate aspects of insolvency or restructuring would also be useful, although neither is essential
- Strong academic and professional credentials
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of clients' businesses
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to tight deadlines
- Excellent written, verbal, and numerical communication skills
- A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Good organizational and file-management skills

Training will be provided for candidates who have a strong general real estate background but have not yet developed significant dedicated real estate finance experience.
