We are working with a well-regarded and established law firm who are looking to recruit a Real Estate Finance Paralegal to join their busy property team. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to develop their experience within real estate finance, working alongside experienced fee earners on a broad range of property-backed lending transactions.

The successful candidate will support fee earners on a variety of real estate finance matters, acting for lenders, borrowers and other stakeholders on transactions involving acquisitions, refinancings, development finance and investment properties. This role offers genuine scope to build knowledge of secured lending and develop a long-term career within real estate finance.

Typical duties for the role will include:

  • Assisting fee earners with a range of real estate finance transactions, including acquisitions, refinancings, development finance and investment lending.
  • Supporting on lender and borrower due diligence, including reviewing property titles, leases, searches and other relevant documentation.
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of finance and security documentation, including facility agreements, legal charges, debentures, guarantees and related documents.
  • Supporting fee earners through exchange, completion and drawdown.
  • Preparing and submitting SDLT returns where required.
  • Preparing and submitting HM Land Registry applications, including registrations of legal charges and transfers, and dealing with requisitions.
  • Assisting with Companies House filings, including registration of charges.
  • Assisting with post-completion matters and ensuring security documentation and registrations are completed within the required timescales.
  • Liaising with lenders, borrowers, clients, agents and other solicitors to progress transactions and respond to general enquiries.
  • Assisting with the preparation of completion checklists, undertakings and other transaction documentation.
  • Opening and closing files in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Assisting with AML, KYC and other compliance requirements.

  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience as a Property or Real Estate Paralegal, ideally with some exposure to real estate finance or secured lending.
  • An interest in developing a career within real estate finance.
  • Experience handling SDLT submissions and HM Land Registry applications.
  • A good understanding of the property transaction and conveyancing process.
  • Ideally, some exposure to property finance documentation, legal charges or lender-side transactions.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage a busy and varied workload and work effectively to transaction deadlines.
