Paralegal Opportunity – Litigation & Dispute Management Team

The Opportunity

We are seeking an ambitious Paralegal to join our Litigation & Dispute Management team based in Birmingham. This fully-onward-facing role provides the opportunity to support senior lawyers in delivering high-quality service across a range of Real Estate Litigation matters, helping clients navigate complex disputes from lease renewals to high-value portfolios.

  • Our Band 1 ranked (Legal 500 & Chambers) Real Estate Litigation team advises on all property-related disputes, from nationwide portfolio management to high-profile court battles, representing some of the world’s biggest names across projects, development and tenancy agreements.

The Role

As our Paralegal, you’ll play a crucial role in managing and delivering outcomes on a diverse range of commercial real estate-related disputes, including:

  • Statutory Lease Renewals:

    • Handling contentious aspects of Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 process, including the service of Section 25 & 26 notices and drafting court claims for renewal tenancies/rent orders.
    • Supporting case management (admissions, CV submissions, evidence-gathering) and offering settlement intelligence (including Part 36 and Calderbank offer negotiation).
  • Real Estate Exit Strategies:

    • Preparing contractual & statutory Section 27 termination notices and managing resulting restrictions.
  • Breach and Enforcement Claims:

    • Assisting with tenant compliance disputes, including managing /rent arrears cases for breaches (e.g., covenant non-compliance or landlord issues).
  • ClientInteraction:

    • Extensive dialogue with clients, agents, and third parties (developers, financiers, asset managers) to ensure smooth execution of instructions and problem-solving.

About the Role

This position is ideal for motivated team players with strong commercial awareness, a meticulous approach, and determination to deliver client excellence. Key responsibilities:

  • Respond to initial real estate disputes within tight deadlines, including drafting, filing, and managing both litigation & enforcement processes.
  • Liaise with experts (surveyors, valeneurs) and witnesses to gather essential assessment reports and corroborative evidence.
  • Highly flexible collaboration across internal and external teams.
  • Uphold ethical transparency, confidentiality, and commitment to excellence in all matters.

The Requirements

  • Ideal profile:
    • Experience as a paralegal/legal clerk in a litigation or commercial real estate context. Roles in general commercial litigation will also be considered.
  • Core attributes:
    • Proactive “Can-do” attitude: A commitment to delivering added value in a team-based setting.
    • Communication and Organisation: Exceptional writing & presentational skills with ability to prioritise workloads realistically.
    • Adaptability: Dexterity in adjusting swiftly to changing priorities.
    • Stakeholder Interaction: Comfortable advancing client instructions and addressing queries across business and community networks.
    • Academics: Strong aptitude, evidenced by A-level grades at BB or equivalent.
  • Soft skills:
    • Strong problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and accuracy.
    • Capacity to self-manage workloads while safeguarding deadlines.
