At Freeths, we're building one of the most ambitious residential development practices in the UK.

Our Housebuilding & Strategic Land (HSL) team is one of the fastest-growing residential development teams in the country and now includes more than 100 lawyers across our sector group. We act for the UK’s top 10 housebuilders, alongside local and national developers, housing associations, landowners, local authorities, investors and promoters. You will advise on some of the UK's most significant residential development and strategic land projects.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Real Estate lawyer to join our Leeds team and play an active role in our next stage of growth.

About the Role

We're interested in hearing from ambitious lawyers (from circa 3 years PQE) who enjoy working closely with clients, building relationships and delivering commercially focused advice.

Whilst experience of acting for housebuilders and residential developers would be advantageous, we are equally keen to hear from lawyers with broader commercial property development, regeneration, infrastructure, strategic land or investment experience who are interested in building their expertise within the residential development sector.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
