You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training Support Branch and functionally through the OMNIA Real Life Support Lead. Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.
The Real Life Support (RLS) Specialist works within the RLS Service which delivers assured, scalable RLS support solutions through early and continuous engagements during training exercise design and planning. This position is critical to the successful delivery of the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) ensuring that collective training is delivered to meet the British Army’s needs. The RLS Service supports exercises with the planning and co-ordination of real life support services to set up exercises in both UK and Overseas.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the RLS team, forging links with the Training Support Branch and Training Delivery team, integrating with Military workforce, overseeing contracted services, and ensuring that RLS solutions are appropriately co-ordinated and resourced.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and coordinate the RLS requirements to deliver, sustain, and recover RLS solutions at the point of need, which includes, transportation and movement solutions (including Dangerous Air Cargo (DAC)), accommodation, catering, and compliant healthcare and medical support.
- Undertake the planning, development and implementation of tailored exercise transportation and movement support solutions for Collective Training Events.
- Support the design and delivery of RLS to collective training and update as necessary to reflect changes in the Force Preparation Schedule.
- Deputise for RLS Lead when required.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders and contractors to ensure RLS is provided that creates conditions to maximise training outcomes.
- Liaise with F&A, Logistic Support and Security Support providers both within Omnia Training and across the wider army and industry
- Ensure governance, risk management, and compliance standards are met throughout the transformation lifecycle.
- Report on progress, risks, and outcomes to Training Support leadership.
- When required, forward deploy to overseas military training areas to supervise implementation of RLS services.
- Any other duties required to develop and support the RLS Service.

Who we are looking for:
We’re after individuals who want to serve. You’ll have a mission focus, and the enthusiasm and drive to ‘get things done’. You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won’t necessarily have a military background, but you’ll understand what it means to serve and to put the mission first.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in designing Collective Training Exercise Support Solutions for the British Army training.
- Strong background in RLS transportation and movement solutions.
- Understanding of management methodologies and best practices.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and influencing at all levels of an organisation.
- Experience in programme governance, risk management, and benefits realisation.
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, a passion for quality and be able to plan and multitask.
- Adopt a flexible approach to the role, adapt to evolving priorities.
- Experience working in or with public sector or defence-related programmes.
- Security cleared or ability to obtain (SC or above).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience with training both in the UK and overseas.
- Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and digital transformation tools.
- Knowledge and practical experience of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies.
- Ability to foster innovation and drive cultural change within large organisations.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships and third-party delivery partners.
- Familiarity or experience with JSP 800

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work. Typically requires:
- A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience
- An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
