About This Role
New Hall School is seeking to appoint a Reception Administrator, Senior Divisions (Maternity Cover). This role is central to the smooth day-to-day operation of the School and serves as a key point of contact for students, staff, parents and visitors. Predominantly based in the main School building, the postholder will provide a warm, efficient and professional reception service, ensuring all enquiries are handled courteously and effectively.
Acting as an ambassador for New Hall, the Reception Administrator will contribute to creating a welcoming and positive environment for the School community and its visitors. The role also includes providing high-quality administrative support, helping to ensure the efficient running of School operations and maintaining effective communication across a range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- to maintain a welcoming, efficient and professional environment, providing hospitality for students, staff, parents and visitors to the School
- to provide a professional response to enquiries and to ensure messages are received promptly and accurately
- to provide administrative support including maintaining student records, creating visitor badges, arranging taxi bookings, meeting rooms and School mobile phone bookings, and overseeing stock supplies
- to oversee lost property items, liaising with the Attendance Office, Estate Department, Tutors and parents
- to provide support for the School’s wider administrative needs, as directed
- to handle confidential information in accordance with the School’s data protection procedures
The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected
- to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and ethos of a Catholic independent boarding and day school
- to hold GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications) at grade B or above
- to possess excellent IT skills, including word processing and database experience
- to have an understanding of the importance of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children
- to have previous experience of working in a School or similar educational environment
- to have excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- to demonstrate a high level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail
- to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills
- to build rapport effectively, ensuring stakeholder needs are met
- to work quickly and accurately, with a keen eye for detail
- to demonstrate a professional telephone manner
- to prioritise tasks effectively
- to relate effectively to different stakeholders

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School’s conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, with a staff of around 300.
Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall’s Avenue: 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow airport. There are nearby airports: London Stansted, London Southend and London City.
