At The Grand Hotel Birmingham, we know that every memorable stay starts with a warm welcome. As Reception Supervisor, you'll support the Front Office Manager in the day-to-day operation of Reception, helping to ensure every guest feels welcomed, valued and cared for from the moment they arrive until it's time to say goodbye.

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week over five days. The role includes a mixture of early and late shifts, with typical start times from 6.30am/7.00am and finishes between 10.30pm and 11.00pm, including weekends on a rota basis.

You'll be a visible presence within the department, supporting colleagues during busy shifts, resolving guest queries, acting as Duty Manager and helping to deliver the warm, personal service The Grand Hotel Birmingham is known for.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Reception Supervisor

  • Supporting the day-to-day operation of Reception, ensuring every guest receives a warm, professional welcome and a seamless arrival and departure experience.
  • Supporting, training and motivating the Reception team, leading by example to deliver consistently high service standards.
  • Taking responsibility for Duty Manager shifts, providing operational support across the hotel and responding confidently to guest and colleague enquiries.
  • Managing guest requests and feedback, supporting VIP, corporate and entertainment arrivals, and taking opportunities to enhance the guest experience.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the hotel to ensure every guest enjoys a memorable stay.

  • Previous experience in a Reception, Front Office or supervisory role within a hotel environment.
  • A warm, professional and confident approach, with the ability to build genuine relationships with guests and colleagues.
  • Experience supporting and developing a team, with the confidence to make decisions in a busy hotel environment.
  • Good IT skills; experience using Opera PMS would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early and late shifts, weekends and Duty Manager shifts.
